Our Story

A Legacy of Spice and Soul. Matchaii is more than just a tea, it’s a tribute to heritage, passion, and the art of blending cultures. Inspired by my late grandmother, Amrit Kaur Bhachu (or 'Mumma' as we called her) had a lifelong love for chai, Matchaii carries forward her legacy of craftsmanship and connection. She began her journey in Kenya, where she learned the traditions of chai-making. When she moved to India, she embraced the region’s bold spices and then on-toward Pakistan where she blended them into her own unique chai creations. Later, in the UK, she continued her passion by sharing her special chai mix with neighbors, infusing it with English tea, bringing warmth and community into every cup. Her love for blending flavors and cultures lives on in Matchaii, an Indian-Japanese infusion of chai and matcha. This is our way of honoring her story, uniting the bold, spiced warmth of chai with the earthy richness of matcha. Every sip is a celebration of heritage, a bridge between worlds, and a taste of the love she poured into every cup.
